Microstructure and rheology of complex fluids
Using high speed confocal microscopy, we are interested in measuring 3D particle locations and trajectories to ascertain the microstructure of suspensions in various flows. Determination of this microstructure gives details to how stress is distributed through particle hydrodynamic, electrostatic, and viscoelastic interactions. Data above comes from experiemtnal location of actual 1 micron particles in a microfluidic device. We are interested in how this compares to previous theory and computations and how we can measure interactions beyond current models.
